Eterbase exchange from Slovakia, has been hacked about US $ 2 million lost by infiltrating their hot wallets. The missing funds were then transferred to various platforms. The stolen ETH was redirected to Tether stablecoin, Uniswap's decentralized exchange, Compound's non-custodial lending protocol and Binance centralized exchange. Eterbase is a small crypto asset exchange with a daily trading volume of around US $ 3 million. On Wednesday (09/09), hackers managed to sneak into the Eterbase hot wallet, which is a wallet that is always connected to the Internet. However, Eterbase's social media management, Nenad Ristic, said no personal information was stolen.

Through the Official Telegram Channel, Eterbase states hackers seized ETH, TRX, BTC, XTZ, TRON, XRP, ALGO,
Eterbase has contacted all centralized exchanges and informed them that they received crypto from the hacker's wallet address.

Eterbase has reported this incident to law enforcement and we are cooperating with the investigation. We want to ensure our clients that we take all the necessary steps to ensure that their deposit amounts are not harmed as a result of this hack. Despite the ongoing investigation, Eterbase could not provide more details. They apologize for the inconvenience and ask users to be patient until this problem is over. In response to these events, the exchange suspended euro withdrawals until September 10, 2020.

To remove traces of hackers, of course they will not directly transfer the stolen crypto to the exchange, but will move the crypto to their other wallets, or hackers will use crypto to shop on the darkweb.

That is a a lot of money! I just hope that Eterbase recovers from this and hopefully the hackers traced and the funds recovered. These crypto related hacking incidences are really getting out of hand.

I also hope that hackers can be caught, because there have been lots of exchanges being hacked like: Mt. Gox, Binance, Bithumb and Bitfinex etc. There is a saying "not your keys, not your Bitcoin" such as a decentralized exchange (DEX), an exchange that does not store user funds directly and keep private keys safe in the user's hands.
